Even a plant that doesn’t need repotting should have its soil replenished yearly. Remove the top two to four inches of soil with a fork; avoid harming any tiny tender roots. Refill with fresh soil mixed with slow release fertilizer. The same holds true for those planters that you have out on the deck or patio. Now is a great time to replenish. Amazingly your blossoms and foliage will go right on until late October. Perhaps depending on our seasonal temperatures they will even continue until early November. Remember to use potting soil for planters and garden soil for garden beds.
