Good Morning my Lord,

Today we will prepare our cleared Ivy beds with Top Soil and newspaper. Properly edge the beds and transplant and divide an established  Day Lily, and reposition some Daffodil bulbs. The top soil bags are quite heavy. I pray for your strength to position them this morning. It’s a labor of love so we will get the job done. Thank you for your never ending encouragement and support. Without you near we are nothing. You bring us strength and determination. Praising you for being here with us. We wish to honor you in all that we do. Thank you my Father in heaven. Amen

Glory to God…….

Speak to me my Lord. I am “still” this morning and I am listening for your calm voice. I want to hear all your plans for today. I wish to encourage, to help others and to give of myself. In your gardens is where I am fully alive to do great things for You. It is warm Lord, and I may work a little slower, but my spirit will be with you. I know that together we can make progress. Today I am adding soil to create a fresh bed for new flowering plants. I will pray with each addition of soil, for beauty to rise up from the ground and allow these plants to thrive and add beauty to your world. Thank you for this generous assignment and your provision that comes with it. I am very thankful.

Glory to God in the highest, and Peace to His people on earth.  Amen

my evening prayer….good night Lord Jesus

Dear God, thank you for your protection today.
I ask that you would give me a good nights sleep

Turn your face towards me as I close my eyes. I pray that your loving presence is close with me overnight. May.your peace be here with me. I now lay my worries at your feet and ask for your peaceful rest tonight.

Holy Spirit please help me not to carry my worries and stresses of our world as I go to bed. Help me not to carry feelings of hurt from today or from the past. Help me to quiet my mind and turn off my thoughts. You are my comforter Holy Spirit. Renew my strength tonight I pray. I am grateful for your generous provision in my life. Forgive me of all my sins and have mercy on me.  Protect and care for my dearest loved one. I know your hand is in all that I do, say and act upon. You are my rock and I give you my entire being as I fade into sleep. I love you my Lord Jesus. Thank you for this day, and now I give you my spirit……

My Dearest  Lord and my God, Good Morning!

I am in “My personal place of Prayer” ……where I will now offer my prayers and meditation to YOU. I will think upon things, over and over again. I will ponder; I will consider all things deep in my being. What are YOU saying to me? I wish to receive and contemplate all You are saying to me. Please open and touch my heart?  My heart is just like the soil I tend every day. My heart will “take form” to whatever takes up root there. My heart is just like the soil according to you Jesus. I will express my message to YOU as you touch my soul. I humbly ask you to wash clean my spirit and my mind, and Lord Jesus accept my true meditation, this quiet and calm Sunday morning. It is a beautiful day. Thank you my Lord Jesus. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen

……a most beautiful blossom and color……

WE ARE GARDENING TODAY….,. on Beverley Drive. We now have a third client. It’s nice because we can help get their sprinklers going and complete projects between the three houses. They are all three in the 1001 through 1009 block. All very different but certainly a variety of tasks. It’s good to take a break from one thing to move on to harder or less strenuous tasks. Very satisfying to create as we move along and not a spare minute is lost. .Our homeowners are traveling or working or absent due to having another property to care for as well. This gives us the ability to prioritize and execute.

Today will be warm and humid. But, pretty much cloudy, and so it’s a great day to be outdoors. if we were to get some sprinkles we woukd not mind at all. it would feel nice actually. And….Here they come right now…..

My Heavenly Father I share communion with you this morning. I give myself and my gardening tasks to you. I want to please you. I want to share all my time with you this day. I now close my eyes and give you my spirit…….Mold me and shape me and help make me productive today. I am totally at peace when I am tending my gardens knowing that you are right beside me. You are my Father and my God and I love having you with me. Thank you for all your gifts of life, mobility, hearing, seeing and touching. Each gift so precious and so important to what I am doing. Thank you for the beauty I am surrounded by. I hope to make your world brighter and more beautiful as I tend the gardens you have graciously entrusted to me. May I honor you today with my every simple but enjoyable task.  Amen.

My growth journey…..

My Almighty and all sovereign God,

This life You have given me is all about being given the opportunity to experience Your love, and to enjoy You forever. Do not allow me to become complacent, but let me have an overwhelming desire to grow in Your love and grace. I ask you now to fill my life with the joy of your spirit, and help me to grow tall and strong in You.  

Thank you for this beautiful day. Thank you for the sunshine, the beautiful breeze and the birds I hear chirping. I treasure days like today and I’m content knowing that you are right here with me, as I enjoy your world.  Amen, my Father God.

Attitude….. of Gratitude

My dearest Heavenly Father,

I am overwhelmed with gratitude this sunny and cool morning for all of your blessings in my life, Lord  I pray that you remind me of just how blessed I am, and that you will never allow me to forget to show my gratitude through my prayers and my returned acts of kindness. I desire to be humble and to master every opportunity you present me with, to give of myself to others that they might know that I’m there for them, if they might have any unmet need.  I now give you my day. I open my heart in gratitude for all your wonderful blessings. Thank you Jesus, my Lord and my Savior God.  Amen

Gardening Today

Today we are working between two houses on Beverley Drive. The soil is rich with moisture this morning so we can accomplish some bed definition and weed infestation. May take a quick jaunt-to Merrifield Garden Center to purchase smallish Azaleas for our client. She is away but certainly with txt/photos we can accomplish this task and her permissions  If we find  some good ones we will proceed with planting and then execute with our weed treatment for her large front bed where we have removed all the Ivy. Our process is blk/wht newspaper and good dark black “topsoil” which believe it or not, will kill anything. It’s inexpensive but it works and we have shared this  process with you before, but it is a perfect fix if you want to avoid weeds in the future.

And our homeowner on the corner of Wellington and Beverley has a bed along the side of the house where we created a great and deep edging that has eroded slightly.  We will work on this today as well. And we are still planting new perennials for this homeowner. It’s all about process. Each year we make new additions for this homeowner. And we are lucky in that he trusts us to do what looks great but also what will grow and thrive. It’s kind of a dream assignment in that we were given a budget and permissions were granted to proceed. This is our third year with this client. We are so grateful for this good work.

Jesus, Jesus, how I love thee….

        FORGET – ME – NOTS

Jesus, oh how I love thee. You have been with me in the night and I awake to a gentle, cloudy but cool morning. A very nice change in weather. A day I can get out and pull some weeds in the coolish air. Kind of nice for a change. Thank you for being with me, and in me overnight. I adore your ever present calm and gentle spirit. You give me new strength and a clear mind. Thank you for rest. It was heavenly. Thank you my Lord and my God for no complications from my procedure. I am renewed in your spirit. Bring new opportunities for me to claim your holy and precious name, Jesus, to others. I give you my entire day, that it will bring you all the glory. Amen.

Queen Anne’s Lace

                 Queen Anne’s Lace 

This native wildflower is so exquisite. Strangely enough you can often  find them along the side of a country road and also they are often seen inside the bordering fences of cow pastures and in patches at the corners of old cemeteries. You don’t often see them in gardens. They are tall thin stalks and are so delicate. Their very tiny blossom clusters are best seen in huge clumps, because otherwise you are bound to pass right by them. 

Amazingly, if picked and cut to bring indoors, they last up to a week or longer in a vase. Best to change the water every day.

We love their lacy and gentile appearance. Most people think they are weeds. Not so, but you have to pick quite a lot to make a substantial looking bouquet. They are beautiful and so worth your time. Most often you’ll have to drive to the country to find them. If you are planning a country wedding they simply make the most perfect bouquet.

The Garden Contessa adores Queen Anne’s Lace. See if you can find some on your next rural drive. I always have a bucket and sheers in my vehicle for just such an occasion.
