THE DISCIPLINE OF COMMUNITY

Jesus didn’t live alone. He had Peter and James and John, and all together with his other disciples, there were twelve. As people, we all need circles of intimacy, those who are close to us. We need people who will love us and care for us.

Where do you get your affection and touching from? Who is holding you? Who makes you feel alive? Who says “You are a beautiful person, you are beloved by God, and don’t ever forget it.”

Ephesians 4:1-6

A New Life….I beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of us all.

PRAYER

My Lord, I humbly ask you to give me the discipline I so desperately need, to be a true member of a community. I wish to choose and to be chosen….to be God’s “beloved.”

• Amen •

….and we now light the “peace” candle!
