Compassion makes us “die” to others; to our neighbors and our brothers. No need to measure your compassion and kindness to others, just be compassionate and don’t worry about how much you give out.  Just give. Don’t judge or measure their worthiness.  You give by being compassionate. One might say, be willing to die to “self” for the sake of others.

Luke 6:37-38

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned, Forgive, and you will be forgiven, give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.”

My compassionate and every loving Father in heaven….give us compassion, so that any harsh behaviors or feelings we might possess, will be overcome by the spirit of a giving heart. As we know you are present in every human being, so help deliver us from our own seeds of harsh judgement. We must not let this prevent us from being with “the other.” Grant to us…your compassionate spirit throughout all the days of our lives. In Jesus holy and previous name we pray.

….and now we illuminate the “peace and hope” candles.
