TEMPTATION TO POWER

What makes the temptation to power so irresistible?
Power offers an easy substitute for the hard task of love. It might seem easier to be God….than to love God, easier to control people, than to love people, easier to own life than to love “life.”

Phillippians 2: 4-8

Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be explained, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness and being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death – even death on a cross.


PRAYER

Dear Lord…..teach me to be humble so that I might discard my pride that might keep me from finding you in my Advent journey. Help me to bury my selfish need to control and take power,  and help me to lay them in your hands,  where I will find my true freedom.
