Stone Patio/Paver Clean- Up

How do you clean weeds and unwanted growth (such as dandelions) from in between your stones/pavers.

Prepare a solution of :

1 gallon of white vinegar

2 tbsps Dawn Detergent

1 cup of salt

Mix very well in a bucket. Our advice is to use a plastic water bottle to pour it between the stones. Be generous. Apply on a very sunny and dry day. Preferably with no rain arriving the next day. You may need to apply twice, but it definitely does the trick. And it’s safe. Even helps with unwanted mossy and slippery areas. It’s easy and quick.

drainage abated……,,

We completed a site visit after a week of heavy rainfall. The owner of the property could not rent the unit until the drainage issue was solved. We made “drainage abatement recommendations” and the problem has been solved by the very able Parkfairfax crew.

With a good plan and a little patience, in three weeks time – all is well. We like the end result. Call The Garden Contessa if you have the need for a recommendation. Our consultation is free of charge. Now our homeowner/landlord wants a quote on fixing up the garden beds at the property. It’s a win-win for all.

Flag Day – June 14, 2018

• The flag’s history is as old as our country. Though not officially a federal holiday, Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the famous stars and stripes by the Continental Congress in 1777.  

UMW- Del Ray – 1st Quarter Business Meeting

On Sunday, Jan 8th the United Methodist Women of Del Ray joined together for a “bring-your-own-lunch” and 1st quarter business meeting.

Linda Hottle as President and Penny Spinney as Treasurer were the UMW officers in attendance

Discussions were “open forum” to make plans for fundraising projects and events during 2017. Our first event will be March 18th, our Irish Supper and Clothing drive for Guest House. Flyers will be distributed at the Saturday morning Pancake Breakfast about this event. Last years supper was a great success and we plan on the same this year. Oh and by the way, the food was yummy!!!

March 19th, we will have a UMW Business meeting that will include Prayer & Self Denial (no lunch) At this meeting we will discuss the Oktoberfest Dinner/Bake Sale and any other fundraising ideas. We will also set a date for our 3rd quarter business meeting which will be sometime in September, with our final time together in December for our Advent Luncheon.

April 9th cookie sale after Services

May 21st, UMW Sunday with speaker Mandy Sozer (Mother’s Day)

We are very pleased to announce that we will begin our first six-week Hatha Yoga Class for Men and Women on Thursday, January 14th, at 6 p.m., at Arlington Forest United Methodist Church, located at 4701 Arlington Blvd., Arlington, VA  22203  This is a gentle and basic yoga class designed to teach you posture and breathing techniques, to help you to release and relieve stress, reduce tension, improve circulation, and learn to relax while learning the fundamentals and positions of gentle yoga  This class is for beginners
